Translate into Danish

Danish may be a small language, but it’s one of our top languages. We handle many translations every day with Danish as either the source or target language. Not too surprising, considering our headquarters are based in Denmark.

Facts about Danish

Danish is an open and informal language. “You” (the informal du) is standard everywhere – unless you’re invited to dine with the Queen.
Danish is spoken by around 6 million people in Denmark, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and by the Danish minority in Northern Germany.
Danish grammar shares similarities with German grammar, making it relatively easy for German native speakers to learn. However, the letters Æ, Ø, and Å (among other things) do make it a bit tricky.

Professional Translations: Practice Makes Perfect

At our translation agency, we’ve been honing our craft since 2005. From the very beginning, our goal has been to become an international translation agency. With passionate, language-trained staff and highly specialized translators, our founder, Ib Brandt Jørgensen, was already helping businesses around the world with their international communication back then.

Today, our passion remains the same: delivering high-quality technical translations carried out by professional native-speaking translators.

Benefits at World Translation: Your Overview

Certification

Thanks to our two ISO certifications (ISO 17100 and ISO 9000), we’re your guarantee for high-quality translations. As a certified translation agency, we are required to meet strict quality standards — although the highest standards are the ones we set for ourselves.

One-Stop Shop for Translations and Language Services

No need to keep track of countless contacts at various external agencies. We’re your one-stop shop for all your translation and language needs. No matter the language combination — whether you need layout services, dubbing, or SEO support — we (and our partners) are here to help. And all you need to remember is the name and email of your project manager with us.

Linguistically Trained Project Managers

Our project managers are dedicated coordinators who oversee your project from start to finish. They also handle the quality control of your translations. That’s why they need excellent language skills and a strong general understanding of language. All our project managers have a background in language studies.

Network of Hundreds of Professional Translators

Whatever language combination you need, we’ve got you covered. Our large network of translators all work into their native language. They cover a wide range of areas of expertise, and our network continues to grow.

Translation Memory

We use a translation memory (TM) in all translation projects. A TM is a client-specific database where all your translated content is stored. This allows us to reuse sentences or sections that have already been translated if similar content appears in a new project.

“Fit for Purpose”

With us, you don’t need to fit into a one-size-fits-all solution. We adapt to your needs and offer you a tailored service. That’s what we call “fit for purpose.”

Strong partnerships

Translations for All Fields of Expertise

We provide translations across all fields. This is possible because we have a large network of native-speaking translators around the world, each with their own areas of expertise.

However, some fields are more commonly requested by our clients than others. Here are the most prominent and frequently represented areas in our translation projects:

Our Translators

We only work with the best specialized translators, and we’re proud of our strong network of language experts. All of our translators are native speakers, meaning they only translate into their own mother tongue. In addition, a set of professional requirements must be met before someone can join our network as a translator. All translators must:

Hold a recognized university degree in translation or hold another university degree and have 3 years of full-time translation experience or have 5 years of full-time translation experience.

That covers the linguistic requirements. We also have high expectations when it comes to our translators’ industry-specific knowledge. To ensure consistently high linguistic and subject-matter quality, we carry out ongoing assessments. This means each translator’s work is regularly reviewed through random sampling.

Our Technology and Translation Software

Our tools ensure consistency and clear messaging in your texts. Thanks to the latest industry-specific technology, we help you present your business in the best possible light.

These tools support our translators in their work, guarantee uniformity over time, and increase your savings with every project.

Our Customer Portal allows you to submit requests online, keep track of your projects, and download reports.

In our Language Portal, you can work like a pro using advanced language technology. The four tools available let you translate, proofread, look up technical terms, or create machine translations.

Our connectors make it easy to send content from your system (PIM, CMS, or other platforms) directly for translation with just a few clicks. It also works seamlessly with WordPress via WPML.

From A to Z: What goes into a translation project

The Translation Project Begins and Ends with You But in between, we handle a few important steps. Once you send us your request, we begin preparing the project and your files. Your files are first technically prepared for our tools, which allows us to provide you with an accurate quote. As soon as you approve the quote, we get started on the translation itself. For each project, we select the translator best suited for the task. When the translation is complete, our language-trained project managers carry out a thorough review and quality check. If you’d like, you can receive the translated files for internal review within your company. If the files also require layout editing, our layout experts will take care of that before we perform a final quality check and deliver the finished translated files to you.

Quality Control at a Translation Agency

Translation is a matter of trust—especially when you need translations in languages you don’t understand. If you and your colleagues can’t read the language, how can you be sure the quality meets your standards?

To deliver high-quality translations, we follow strict quality assurance processes for every single project. We check spelling, punctuation, special characters, terminology, and much more. If your file requires layout editing, the translated version will also be reviewed again after the layout work is completed.

American English or British English?

English isn’t the same everywhere. The two most common variants are American English and British English. At first glance, they may seem almost identical, but you’ll quickly notice differences in how they sound. And if you look closer, you’ll find variations in spelling, grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary.

Even spelling alone can lead to incorrect translations if you don’t choose the right English variant for your target audience. Vocabulary differences can be even more striking. For example, if you’re selling a flashlight in a British market, the correct translation is “torch.” In American English, it’s called a “flashlight.” This distinction between markets is known as localization.
